Uplifted by Love and Faith

When did our story begin? I think of this often, and it reminds me of how my dreams started. In my early 20s, I worked for various clothing manufacturers and rented to own my first industrial sewing machine to support myself through sewing.

A little story that inspired my dream...
My father, who was sometimes homeless after losing my mom through a divorce, lived from paycheck to paycheck and was severely bitten by a dog one day while doing some handyman work. He was granted $3,000 from the incident, paid his bills, and handed me his last $1,500 so I could pay off my industrial sewing machine. He told me he knew someday I would make something of myself and start my own business. He believed in my talents and creativity. He had faith in me, which I didn't have in myself then. He never wanted me to repay him for that. I've always thought of that selfless gesture, and it taught me to appreciate my machine and the work I create by using it throughout the years. I decided to start Heather & Faith Uplifted as a hobby to make girl's skirts by upcycling jeans. My beautiful and intelligent twin nieces " Heather & Faith " inspired me to have fun creating skirts for little girls by repurposing jeans. It was a hobby until the pandemic hit in 2020, and I lost my sales career position due to being laid off. That's when I answered a desperate plea to make masks and scrub caps for the nursing industry. Soon, my focus had changed from " just a hobby " to providing a great need, our nation's request from thousands of frontline workers, and I then found my passion and purpose again. Scrub Caps are part of an identifiable uniform for medical, dental, and veterinary industry professionals. I'm so grateful to be able to provide my service to these communities with as much passion in making their scrub caps as it once was in my father's dream for a bright future for me. I want to continue to make him proud even after his passing 20 years ago. He gave up his last penny for me, and I feel it in my heart and soul to give it back somehow by doing something special that serves a purpose. I love what I do, and I have faith that someday, my scrub caps will be recognized worldwide from coast to coast and make those wearing them happy.
